Eligibility:
You are eligible if you are:

applying for your first ever Australian passport OR
-
under the age of 18 years & never held an Australian Passport OR
-
aged 16 or over and applying for a first adult passport OR
-
replacing a passport reported lost or stolen OR
-
applying for your first passport after resumption of citizenship OR
-
applying to replace a limited validity passport, emergency passport, or other temporary travel document OR
-
unable to answer the security questions for the renewal form
Instructions
1. Complete your application form online
-
The application must be lodged within six months of completion.
2. Print and sign your application form
-
Print your application on plain white A4 paper. Make sure your form has printed in full and isn't cut off at the top or bottom of the page. You may refer to printing your application form.

Sign the form using black pen, within the signature box. Make sure there are no alterations or whiteout on the signature or the date.

Children 10 years or older must provide a signature unless there is a medical reason or disability that prevents them from signing.
3. Photos

At least two recent identical colour photos, less than six months old. Refer to the passport photo guidelines for more information.

Please do not attach the photos to the form as this may damage them.

Please request no editing including background removal/brightening to be done to the photo.

Photos with an unnatural or removed backgrounds will be rejected.
4. Gather supporting Documents
For a first Adult passport application, you will need the following original documents:

Your full birth certificate

Evidence that you’re an Australian citizen – usually an Australian Citizenship certificate

Identity documents showing your photo, signature, and current residential address – for example a combination of Driver’s licence, OCI card, Aadhar Card, PAN card, Bank Passbook

Government issued documents that prove any change of name or change of gender. For further details see Names and name change | Australian Passport Office (passports.gov.au)
For a first Child application, you will need the following original documents:
·The child’s full birth certificate
·Evidence that the child is an Australian citizen

Lodging parent(s) Identity documents showing their photo, signature, and current residential address
·Documents that prove any change of name
·Child applications must have consent from all parent(s).
5. Guarantor

A guarantor must sign section 11 of the application form. Remember the guarantor must also endorse the back of a passport photo by writing ‘This is a true photo of [the child’s full name]’ and signing in black pen. Refer page for more information on guarantor requirements.
6. Consent in front of a witness (Child application's only)

Parental Consent is required for a child passport. Everyone who’s giving consent must sign section 15 of the form in front of a witness. Ensure all sections are filled in, even if your name has not changed. Witness cannot be related to you or reside at your home address. Passport staff are unable to witness the signatures.
7. Lodge your application in person

Book an appointment online.

It is sufficient that one of the parents attend the appointment.

If children are under 16years – they are not mandated to attend.

You will need to make payment at time of appointment via bank transfer, cash and credit card.
8. We'll tell you when your passport is ready
- Please allow a minimum of 25 business days to process the application from when we receive your payment.

We will email you when your passport has arrived at the Consulate for you to collect, or when we have posted it to your local address. We are unable to post passports outside of India.
